XDEN-5019 - Introduction to Dental Front-Office Duties
Course Description
This course is an introduction of the duties performed by a dental receptionist. The course will focus on application of dental software for scheduling a variety of procedures using Eaglesoft and Dentrix. It also introduces management of written, verbal, and electronic communications. Obtaining medical/dental history and creating patient charts will also be introduced.
Class Meeting: This course will meet for two weeks on Mondays and Thursdays from 6:00pm—8:00pm for lab. The lecture content will be offered online through Google Classroom (students will need to register for a Gmail e-mail account in order to take the course). The lecture component will be equivalent to 2 hours per week in an asynchronous (self-paced) format to complete assignments.
Materials needed: Instructor Packet to be purchased in the college store, Internet, Computer or Laptop Access off Campus. Microsoft Word, Powerpoint.
Refund Policy
Students who have registered for the class and cannot attend must contact Workforce: 330-494-6170 ext. 4887 two business days before the start of the course to receive a refund for the course.
Prerequisites
**Dental knowledge required either from College or trade school training, on the job training with one year of dental experience, or have taken the Introduction to the Dental Profession course is required**
Documentation Needed Prior to Class Should Include one of the Following:
- Unofficial transcripts from college
- Trade School diploma/certificate
- Introduction to the Dental Profession CE Certificate
- Letter from dental employer verifying one year of experience
- CODA/RDA/DANB Certification
