Stark State College Class A CDL Program Details

- Tuition is $6,985.20 which includes course materials and CDL Examination Fees (including truck rental) for up to two attempts. Students are responsible for DOT Physical, drug screen and temporary permit/license fees. Permit not required to start training.
- Our CDL training will provide a minimum of 160 hours of Class A Tractor Trailer training consistent with the instruction required by Ohio administrative code 4501-7-11 and the Federal Entry-Level Drive Training rule.
- Our CDL classes include a minimum of 40 hours of classroom instruction and 40 hours behind-the-wheel conducted at the Stark State College CDL Training Center, 2270 Picton Parkway, Akron, OH 44312.
- Classroom includes CDL permit instruction (including preparation for tanker, HazMat and doubles and triples endorsements) and Entry Level Driver Training.
- Behind-the-wheel training covers safe driver training such as pre-trip inspection, shifting, backing maneuvers and on-road driving. Tractors are outfitted with 10-Speed Non-Synchronized Manual Transmissions only.

REFUND POLICY
Students may notify us at CDL@starkstate.edu two or more business days before the start of class for a full refund. If course delivery has begun, a refund will not be issued.
CANCELLATION POLICY
The College reserves the right to cancel any course due to insufficient enrollment. In the event the course is cancelled by the college, a full refund will be issued.
Stark State College does not guarantee a student will receive a Commercial Driver's License or employment at the completion of training. After course completion, there may be additional charges for additional training. All additional training will be done on a seat available basis.
Prerequisites
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid Ohio driver’s license
- Social security card
- Birth certificate, valid passport or permanent resident card
- Provide satisfactory results of drug screen and DOT physical
- CDL learner's permit not required.
